A self-defining comment
So, I'm advised to begin my own blogging journey, that is to say, a stream of consciousness apart from my three adorable and wonderful young children, who will have their own places to post...
I ended up with 'other than mother' because that's what I imagine this page to be: what I like and do other than being a mom. What was it I did? The last five years of my life are a bit of a mothering blur: 3 babies born on 3 continents with at least 8 moves (of residence) over 4 countries (with visits to 4 more). I got lost somewhere between the naptimes and diaper changes... but not indefinitely.
It's starting to come back to me.
I used to do crafty stuff - cross-stitch, sew, glue stuff, wrap it up.
I used to go on long walks and feed the ducks.
I used to hike up every circle (i.e. easy) trail with a view.
I used to bargain shop for name-brand looks.
I used to love working out, making music, and being bizarre.
Always have loved serving people.
Always have loved nearly anything to do with other cultures.
Always have loved kids.
And they say mothering passes quickly and I'll take their word for it for now.
So, while this may be called and focused on what I think and do "Other than mother", I am choosing to spend most of my energy investing in three little people named James, Joel and Anna. And that is how it should be.
